About EU Salary Tools
EU Salary Tools is an independent project that builds free, country-specific salary and tax calculators for the United Kingdom and the European Union. The site exists for one reason: a pay figure means nothing until you know what you actually keep, and every European country answers that question differently.
What makes these calculators different
Most "salary calculators" on the web apply a single generic method to every country, or quietly use outdated tax bands from years ago. We do neither. Each calculator on this site implements the real tax rules of its country for 2026:
- Real bands and thresholds — verified against official sources such as gov.uk, the European Commission's tax databases, and national revenue services.
- Real mechanics — the UK's personal allowance taper, Germany's formula-based tariff, France's family quotient tranches, Ireland's Universal Social Charge, the Netherlands' Box 1 system, and the progressive scales of Spain and Italy.
- Full breakdowns — every result shows which band, credit or allowance produced each line, so you can check the maths yourself.
- Clear dating — every page states which tax year its figures belong to. If a 2026 figure had not been published when we last reviewed the page, we say so and use the latest confirmed year.
Our review process
Tax bands change every year — sometimes mid-year. We review each calculator against official publications at least once a year, and sooner when a national budget announces changes. Each tool page carries a "last reviewed" note. If you spot a figure that looks wrong, please tell us — corrections from readers are how small independent sites stay accurate.
What this site is not
We are not tax advisors, accountants, or a financial institution. Our calculators are educational estimates for planning and comparison. They cannot cover every personal circumstance — pension contributions, specific deductions, regional variations within a country, or changes announced after our last review. For decisions that matter, confirm the numbers with a qualified tax advisor in your country. Read our full disclaimer.
Privacy
All calculations happen in your browser. We do not ask for your name, and the numbers you type into a calculator are never sent to us. See our privacy policy for the full details.
